Primary Practice Areas

MR. CARROLL is head of the Insurance and Indemnity Law Department and the Appellate Department at Vandeveer Garzia.  He was instrumental in creating the Insurance and Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and was elected its first Chairperson.  He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Michigan and in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Eighth Circuits.

PRACTICE AREAS.  In the area of insurance and indemnity law, Mr. Carroll provides a full range of services, ranging from drafting and revising insurance policies and indemnity contracts to providing coverage opinions and litigating disputed coverage issues in declaratory judgment actions.  He is national coverage counsel for a risk retention group with members in several states, and works with the client to draft and revise policy provisions.  His representation includes both insurance companies and insureds, and he has published extensively in this area.  In the area of appellate practice, Mr. Carroll handles dispositive motions and appeals both within the firm and by referral from other firms.

EDUCATION.  Mr. Carroll graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in 1966 and from the University of Michigan Law School in 1969.
